Training In SA, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia

default-16x9

I have been asked to consider the cultural, financial and geographical challenges of setting up a management trainingteam covering Botswana, Zimbabwe (!), Zambia and South Africa.

If anybody has any experience whatsoever of working or managing teams in these areas, I would be truly grtaeful if you could share them with me.

The teams will be set up to deliver Management Training and Leadership Skills as well as Customer Service and Sales skills to local employees of a large financial institition.

Thank you

Alistair Gordon

  1. a friend already worked in S.A.
Colleagues of Ethos Training in Sheffield worked there last year I believe.

Give Steve Spooner a call on 01924 263373 perhaps he can share some experience with you.
Any problems just email me back.

    Dear Alistair
I have experience of working with finacial institutions delivering just such programmes in the countries you mention and several more throughout Africa over the past 5 years. More than willing to share my experiences please call me on 07702 433284 Wayne.

  3. Consultancy Rates
Having recently considered an opportunity in South Africa, I was horrified to see how low the consultancy rates were for classroom trainers, sometimes up to 70% lower than would be paid in the UK. Some training providers there were only charging £49 per delegate to attend a one-day course!

So it’s worth making sure your costs look competitive.

Apparently, some international companies that have operations there are prepared to pay more realistic “global” rates, as they can cost them out through other cost centres.

I came across your question while searching for other items. I am head of training and development for the Int Fed or Red Cross and Red Crescent. I have trained in several of the countries you mentioned and have in fact just returned from SA. I’d be interested to learn how your leadership and team building training went – I have run both, at one time in a refugee compound in Kasulu, Tanzania on the border of Burundi with team leaders from Tanzania as well as international. I’d be happy to share experiences with you if it is still relevant, Pamela Lupton-Bowers
