Training in the design of e-learning modules

default-16x9

I am looking for an open course on designing training for an e-learning environmenbt - content would need to be aimed at professional and effective trainers, but include any differences in instructional design strategy, golden rules, engaging learners, embedding/transferring learning and perhaps most importantly some of the technical constraints/barriers/considerations that trainers would need to be aware of.

We have developed our own process for designing robust and effective learning, using rules and objects, but would like to take trainers to the next level.

    Hello Anne

I have recently finished my LeTTOL course, which Learn to Teach Online, well recommended. The folow up to this is the ITOL course, Implement Training Online. Both courses are delivered by Sheffield College.

It is usual that any candidate for the ITOL course has passed the LeTTOL course beforehand, or can show knowledge and experience.

If you require any more details please email me.

    Cheers for now

I, too, would be interested in learning more about the LeTTOL course and its follow up, the ITOL course.

Your comment says “please email me” but I cannot find you or your email address in Who’s Who. Can you help?

    Hi

Not sure what ‘open’ means, but I can recommend the Netskills courses on ‘Effective e-learning’ – they are face-to-face one day workshops but are very engaging, with opportunities to ‘do’ as well as listen/watch.

    URL is: http://www.netskills.ac.uk

I have to confess to having done no specialised training to achieve my current position designing e-learning, so cannot give specific advice.

The replies have caused me to look at the solutions offered, and I have to say that the Netskills course seems to have all of the content I would expect in this sort of training, even to the point of addressing accesibilty issue.

The Sheffield College courses seem to be more aimed at teaching and facilitating online, rather than what I perceive to be your main requirement, designing e-learning.

Hope you find what you need,

    Howard

    Hi Folks

I know I maybe a little biased having recently completed the LeTTOL course, but, let me assure you that it looks at design of not just the learning materials that are used on line but also the environments that they are delivered through. Virtual Learning Environments, Learning Management Systems call them what you will. The ITOL course looks at the issues in a much deeper aspect not just from the learners.

Needless to say with all of the assistance I received throughout my learning I am now in a position where I am working very hard at setting up my own e-learning company.

Already I have a few courses set up that without the LeTTOL course I would have struggled even considering the starting of them.

    Cheers for now
