Editor's Note
=============
Back from my holidays, and it seems that everyone else in the
TrainingZONE team has been steaming ahead with new developments
on the site. In the last few days, we've relaunched the popular
Toolkit area, which now contains even more useful resources to
download and use for free or at minimal cost.
Over in the Learning Campus, an events directory is being created
so that there will be a dedicated area for members to post events
and training courses they're organising. The area will have a
facility to book online - details will be sent on to the
organisers direct.
Over the next month or so, the top feature for HR colleagues
to keep a eye on is the soon-to-be launched HR Zone, which will
be fully focussed on the current issues in recruitment, reward,
employee relations and employment law.
Finally, we're currently looking for interested parties to help
expand the TrainingZONE community world-wide. A substantial
number of regular TrainingZONE users live and work across the
world in Australia, Singapore, India, South Africa, Canada, the
USA and over fifty other countries, so we would love to hear from
representatives abroad who are willing and able to source local
news stories and are keen to introduce fellow HRDers in their
country to the benefits of TrainingZONE. For more details, see
https://www.trainingzone.co.uk/item/25905
We hope all these new features will make TrainingZONE an even
more indispensible resource at work!

Resource materials for training professionals
---------------------------------------------
The Toolkit, our ever-expanding library of downloadable training
resources has been completely redeveloped to create a real value-
added resource of practical help to training professionals.
Through partnership arrangements with mainstream publishers,
members and other content providers, the Toolkit contains a
growing range of training programmes, manuals, PowerPoint
presentations, video and sound files, software programmes,
briefing papers, utilities, expert advice pages and much, much
more, all readily available for your immediate use.
Some of this material will remain completely free-of-charge. All
we ask is that you register your details (free) in order to
access the materials. Other resources will have a small charge
collected either by invoicing your company or credit card
payment, using a completely secure connection.

Publish your own material on TrainingZONE!
------------------------------------------
The other advantage of this new facility is that you can now
quickly and easily publish your training resources and make them
available to a worldwide audience - and earn a fee for each sale
in the process - a great marketing tool to make the most of!
All the new resource materials in the Toolkit will be reviewed by
a well-known publisher with the intention of creating a print-
published version of the best ones.
If you would like to earn money from publishing your training
resources, full details and a submission form are at

Online workshop: Managing poor performance
------------------------------------------
If there are problems with a member of staff's performance,
managers can find it difficult to strike a balance between being
fair and being firm. In addition, having policies in place to
deal with any of the different reasons for poor performance is
vital in these days of large financial payouts for unfair
dismissal claims, but the best ways of dealing with poor
performance should mean that dismissal is only ever a last
resort. In Tuesday's workshop, TrainingZONE members are invited
to share good practice they've encountered and offer suggestions
for turning around staff performance when there's been a problem.

*Question of the week*
How many members are aware of 'Syndicate Training'?
---------------------------------------------------
I received in today's post a very strange letter informing me
that 'Syndicate Training' a partnership programme which brings UK
companies together, to form a buying syndicate for management
training, were offering a limited number of memberships.
When I contacted them I was told that the members would not be
interested in external training. I was a bit confused and when
further questioned the syndicate director told me that their
members (some well known companies) were fed up of the unethical
pricing policies of training companies, and were hoping to put a
number of training companies out of business.
I was wondering if any other members had heard of them?
