GoSkills has formally applied for the licence to be the recognised Sector Skills Council (SSC) for the Passenger Transport Sector.
The company made its submission to the Sector Skills Development Agency at the end of March.
In preparation for success GoSkills is currently working with KPMG on a search for eight new Board members.
GoSkills chief executive Peter Huntington said: “We believe that our application is a strong one and are confident that GoSkills can meet the challenges the sector presents."
The Sector Skills Development Agency, Devolved Administrations and other stakeholders are now considering the application.
