UK v US Learning Technologies Report – Interesting Facts

default-16x9

Bersin and Associates recently published their UK Training and Development Factbook® 2010. Their research showed some very interesting comparisons to their findings in the US.

Findings that I found interesting:

1. Historical slower adoption of Learning Management Systems (LMS) vs. the US

39% of US organizations use LMS  V  25% of UK organizations use LMSs

2. Overall, twice as many US Companies are using Rapid eLearning Authoring Tools

32% of US organizations use Rapid eLearning Authoring Tools  V  16% of UK organizations use Rapid eLearning Authoring Tools

3. Overall, US companies deliver twice as much training through corporate eLearning 2009 vs. the UK

20% of US organizations use Online / CBT Self study  V  10% of UK organizations use Online / CBT Self study

4. Overall, US companies deliver over three time as much training through virtual classroom solutions

13% of US organizations use virtual classroom solutions  V  4% of UK organizations use virtual classroom solutions

5. Training spending in the UK declined only 4% in 2009, vs. the US’s 11%

Clearly there are still huge opportunities for UK based companies to reduce the cost of learning and development through modern learning technologies.
