Computer services company Unisys have announced this week that they are to put their human resources operations onto the web. A $200m contract has been signed with US HR specialist Exult, who are to roll out and manage the web-based services for its 36,000 employees world-wide. It has been stated that a saving of around $20m will be made by this company.
Unisys plans to roll out the system in the US within the next 12 months. This system will allow employees to find out about benefit programmes, check their tax figures, fill in expense sheets and update their personal information from their own desktops.
They also envisage that by implementing such a system will also automate functions that were traditionally carried out by human resource managers, thus cutting costs and allowing them more time to work on more strategic issues.
Exult will also take over responsibility for their existing HR system which will also be integrated with the new one being implemented.
Unisys is one of the latest larger organisations who have signed a deal with Exult to streamline their HR functions, BP signed in December with a deal costing around £275m.
