Video-Based Service to Offer Coaching on Demand

default-16x9

Trainers are being invited to help test and improve a new video-based e-learning website that is due to be launched in early February. Called www.eConsult.tv, the site aims to provide the insight and knowledge of outstanding people in their fields using video clips.

“For example, imagine being able to learn negotiation skills by picking the brains of a professional negotiator, rather than a trainer who has been taught the course content,” says Roy Sheppard, who is developing the new service. “Coaching and mentoring is the new 'thing' - but there aren't enough top class coaches and mentors around - and the best ones are expensive and booked up,” he comments.

The website contains a library of clips showing experts sharing their insights on different topics, from negotiation skills to networking. “What we are doing is taking a business topic and then breaking it down into as many questions as possible,” explains Roy. “We then interview the 'experts' with those questions. The questions for each topic are listed on the website, giving the learner the opportunity to select only the questions they would like the answers to.”

The site already has over 3,000 videos. When fully operational, each contributor's CV will be accessible and each clip will be rated by previous users.

“Obviously this site won't replace trainers or coaches,” says Roy. “But working with eConsult.tv will allow trainers and coaches to focus more of their energy and time on the unique, personal and bespoke requirements of their learners.”
