Well, hello again.

default-16x9

So, here I am again. Older and wiser (well, definitely older), I have returned from my travels of the world to take back the reins of TrainingZone.co.uk. Immeasurable thanks to Martin Couzins for doing a grand job of covering the position for the last five months. It's nice to see the site in good shape, and a community still as passionate about L&D as ever.

Working for an employer like SiftMedia, it is thankfully very easy to eschew the specifically British predilection of hating your job. I had no trepidation about coming back to work, and am actually a bit relieved to see my life attain some structure once again. I write this with as little sycophancy as possible - it's just nice to do a job that you like. Getting up in the morning? Now that's a different story, but I'm loathe to complain as we all have to do it, and I've easily had my share of good times, lie-ins and general relaxation over the last few months. I look forward to reintegrating myself into work and to the myriad conversations I'll be having within the community over the coming weeks.

One of my main takeaways from these last few months is that the world feels a lot smaller now. Wifi is everywhere. The ability to stay connected, should you so desire, is easy. Understandably, you might want to leave everything behind and escape, but I'm not really that sort of person. And besides, I never felt I a compulsion to stay in touch with everyone at home, it was just good to know that if I needed to I could, very easily. And it's this ease of connectivity which is driving innovation, communication and collaboration for the better across the world. Right, before I start making too many excuses for my international Twitter usage, I'll sign off.

Once again, a big thank you to Martin and here's to the future.

Jon
