Well. What an about turn…

...we all seem to have made about a certain sporting event taking place in East London right now. After doom and gloom, mongered by most sections of the press (even this one), Danny Boyle, Stephen Daldry and the many other creative influences involved came and blew us all away with a beautifully idiosynratic opening ceremony. A nervy first few days where the medals didn't exactly roll in was followed by last weekend, and what an amazing day on Saturday! How did this happen? I think Rus Slater sums it up best. If we can draw any parallel at all, it's that slashing training budgets is no way to improve. Why do we have so many great boxing prospects at the moment? because we invest in things like this. Anyway, rant over. On a more positive note it's been wonderful to celebrate sport in all its diversity. Can't we have the Olympics every year?

In case you didn't know, August is higher ed and apprenticeships month on site, so check out all the related articles on the front page, especially James Flanagan's piece that rolls back the centuries (!) on the apprenticeship process.

To those members we haven't seen for a while, it's almost events season again, so if you're going to WOLCE or any of smaller one day events going on in the capital, TrainingZone might well see you there.
