1. Qualities of great leaders

   There are three ways to answer this question:

   1. Read works by some of the most renowned thinkers in the field, like John Adair, Jim Collins, Ken Blanchard and Stephen Covey
   2. Google it – I used a slideshow at

      http://www.slideshare.net/tommyland/management-vs-leadership-on-linkedin as the basis for a discussion on the subject on a recent leadership course

   3. Ask the people that you work with to define the characteristics and qualities that they themselves look for more in a leader. This will mean that instead of giving an answer from a book or from someone else’s research, they will be giving you what matters the most to them.

2. What does Leadership look like?

   A fantastic well researched book to read is the Leadership Challenge by Kouzes and Posner add into this the concepts of transparency & stewardship as additional principles and I think you have it. Easy to say and harder to change and maintain the behaviours required.
