Where can I find flexible IT accreditation for use in the workplace

default-16x9

Hi,

I work for an Insurance company and run the IT training internally. I am in the process of redeveloping the IT training and I would like to find a way to provide accreditation for the skills they acquire.

Because of the nature of the company qualifications such as ECDL are impractical beacause not every user requires the same skills.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any suitable solution,

thanks

  1. Open College
The most flexible way is through the Open College system – I would suggest OCNW, Storey Institute, Meeting House lane, Lancaster LA1 1TH 01524 845046 email [email protected]
If you want to tell me more details, I can help.

  2. IT Recognition thru the OCN
My organisation uses the Open College Network to accredit basic IT skills acquired by staff.
These are brief units based around Wordprocessing, Email, Internet, Databases, and Presentation Packages. There are other units that may reflect your needs.

  3. ECDL Advanced level
You say the ECDL does not fit your workplace skill base but is it not a good benchmark to set the IT competency standard against with those who require more in depth IT skills going on to the ECDL advanced level. The British Computer society recognised that there are differing levels of IT skill required throughout an organisation so it has come up with three different levels against which you can set the competency requirement for the different posts.

  4. Flexible ECDL
    Clair,

Considering that ECDL modules are tested separately I would think that it is still a very good training solution.

The important thing is to have access to separate modules as you require them i.e. if Mrs A only needs training in Spreadsheets and Using the Computer and Managing Files then she would only train and sit for these 2 modules. She may not get the full qualification but can achieve competency and be tested in these areas. Contact me if you’d like to find out how to achieve this.
