My company is currently looking into a number of different eLearning software packages so that we can build a full suite of eLearning courses for all of our clients. We have played a bit with Moodle and are now looking into Macromedia Breeze and Articulate which both seem like very good products. Does anyone know of or use any other products that would be worth looking at? Please feel free to pass my details onto any contacts you have that might offer this type of software. Thanks, Russell 0783 557 6772.

Hello
Hi Russell,
Sorry I can’t help with your question but wondered how you’re getting on in your new job? Hope you’ve settled in and are enjoying it.

re Which software shall we use?
Hi russell,
Lectora from Trivantis is a very good authoring tool and relatively easy to learn.
Note that Moodle is a MLE (Managed Learning Environment) and not an authoring tool as such – but I’m sure you knew this
authoring/assessment software
The Questionmark™ Perception™ assessment management system enables educators and trainers to author, schedule, deliver, and report on surveys, quizzes, tests and exams. You can download a 30 day FREE trial at http://www.questionmark.com/uk
Captivate 2.0
Recently went to a demo of the latest version of Captivate (2.0). Some of the new features make it even more user friendly than the previous version which helps. functionality is superb, it’s very well priced and output is professional. Macromedia have of course been bought by Adobe so it’s now Adobe Captivate instead of Macromedia Captivate. You can get a 30 day free trial from the adobe.com site so it’s certainly worth looking into. (By the way – I have no affiliation with Adobe or Captivate, I’m an IT Trainer looking into cost effective ways of putting together effective e-learning ‘snippets’.)
Hope this helps your research,
Sam
Articulate & Moodle
Hi, would really recommend the combination of articulate and moodle. using articualte quizmaker we found it tracked great in moodle, breeze didn’t. Also the new Engage tool with Articulate is great. Captivate great if you want systems training.
Have a look at our moodle demo at http://kineolearning.com/demo you can self-register and see example of Engage and Articulate inside Moodle.
Vendor’s reply
Hi Russell,
I’ll declare my hand now and let you know that I am a vendor, but our software is regularly selected when compared with the products you mention. It also scored higher than Breeze and Articulate (33 out of 35) when tested by Kineo in their survey of rapid authoring tools.
