Winners announced for the ILM excellence awards 2008

The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) has announced the winners of the 2008 Awards for Excellence.

Sally Sandford, an environmental officer at St Austell Brewery was named as ILM's learner of the year while Hassan Bahramn of the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) and Richard Thomas from the Crown Prosecution Service received high commendations.

ILM tutor of the year went to Suzanne Seviour from Spectrum for her continued dedication to supporting people with learning disabilities and her passion for staff training. Geoff Paling from Goodfoot Consultancy and Patricia Archer of Assured Solutions Consultancy were also highly commended.

TNT UK managed to scoop the ILM employer of the year award for their management development programme while nominees Falkirk Council and Goodfoot Consultancy were highly commended.

Lieutenant commander John Scivier of the Royal Navy was presented with the ILM achiever of the year award for his programme of development at HMS Victory while Thomas Russell from Cancer Research UK and Karen Martin of Ixion Holdings were highly commended.

Speaking at the awards, Penny de Valk, chief executive of ILM said: "Behind every success there is a story to tell about commitment, personal growth, achievement and hard work. This year’s entries inspired our judges with their endeavour, dedication to development and their advancement of leadership."
