The World of Learning Conference and Exhibition 2011 seminar programme will cover a wide range of topics including social learning, managing conflict, outsourcing and developing and engaging talent.

The seminar programme, sponsored by TrainingZone, will provide a mix of case studies and expert input and focus on how to run an L&D function when budgets are tight and the pressure to deliver is on.

Key themes to be discussed include:

  • More effective training for less with Graham David from Blue Beetle Training.
  • Lessons from the front line of social learning with Rob Hubbard from LearningAge Solutions.
  • Seven trends of mobile learning by Martin Addison from Video Arts.

Other seminars will cover:

  •  The role of learning and development in supporting public sector change.
  • Linking performance with talent management and succession planning.
  • Harnessing the power of informal learning without stifling it.

As well as the seminar programme, delegates will receive career advice in the Professional Development Zone, where advisers from the British Institute for Learning & Development (BILD) will provide one-to-one advice on topics ranging from performance improvement to key challenges in the workplace. BILD experts will also lead tailored group sessions in the skills workshops taking place throughout the show.

Other features include:

  • Social Learning Zone - where delegates can find out more about how to use social media to enhance learning activities and knowledge sharing.
  • Experiential Learning Zone - which offers engaging and inspiring workshops that allow visitors to experience first-hand highly creative solutions for skills development.
  • International Zone - dedicated to encouraging trade and growth on a worldwide level. Visitors can meet key decision-makers and potential partners from overseas who are looking to link with UK training providers or purchase UK products, services and expertise as well as learn how to develop an international business.
  • Happiness at Work Zone - which looks at how to engage people on a personal and professional level in the workplace and how to create the right environment for positivity and productivity.

Delegates will be able to meet trainers across a range of disciplines at the Trainer Base, or relax and meet new contacts at the Business and Networking Lounge.

Andrew Gee, senior project manager for the World of Learning, said: "This year’s seminar programme captures the essence of issues that are currently key to the L&D sector. These seminars and features will provide visitors with valuable knowledge about the latest developments in what is a very fast paced, exciting industry."
