I deliver training to a dealer network on technical issues and need to assess the learning from within the group. Can anyone suggest a source or guide to ensure that I ask the right type of questions.

  1. Help with learning evaluation
    Les,

The evaluation of learning is a major issue these days, particularly as employers and managers want to see proof of their return on training investment and spend.

There are a number of well researched handbooks on training evaluation from e.g. Gower.

For some quick solutions why not check out the downloadable evaluation resources and briefing sheets in the TrainingZone Lilbrary.

You might also want to consider getting involved with EvaluationZone for all the latest briefings and ideas about measuring the impact of learning.

As a general rule of thumb, I would recommend you focus on

    • What learning can the learner demonstrate they have used in their work?
    • What difference is it making to their work after 3/6 months?
    • What impact has the line manager or training manager noticed in the person’s work 3/6 months after the training, relative to their reasons for proposing this person for the training?
