Around 13% of workers are planning to change jobs in the New Year, citing the fact that they feel trapped in their current position.
The People in Work Monitor survey by Pitman Training showed that nearly half of respondents - 47% - said they felt trapped in their current role.
Pitman said this showed a need for companies to increase training to allow staff to progress within a company and therefore improve staff retention.
The findings showed a slight rise in job dissatisfaction - 29% compared to 28% in 2002.
Employers can expect to see the greatest movement in London where 20% plan to change jobs in the New Year.
Other areas that will see above average movement include the West Midlands (18%) and East Anglia (17%).
However, those employed in Wales and Scotland experienced the most job satisfaction with only 6% and 9% (respectively) stating that they planned to move to other jobs.
