Training on dealing with the press

default-16x9

I'm looking for some training or coaching for 2 people within our Marketing department who deal with the local press on a frequent basis.

They need to develop the skills to effectively communicate on local radio, via local newspapers, and on how to handle enquiries from the press on sensitive issues.

Can anyone recommend any good trainers / coaches who could do this?

Thanks.

  4. One-day workshop
When I was a new administrator at Macomb Community College, I participated in a day-long program. We were put through a series of scenerios after which TV, radio and news professionals provided feedback. Some of the hands-on experiences included an interview with a news reporter who put his twist on a news story, dealing with press during a crisis with several microphones in your face, radio interview (with some tough questions, of course), and TV interview. It was an enlightening day.

  8. The Fabulous Brian Morris
I’d recommend BAFTA award winning journalist Brian Morris and his team experienced TV and newspaper journalists. They focus on developing the skills and confidence to turn hostile interviews into opportunities to get positive messages about your organisation across. Their events recreate the pressures of the media scrum. They’ll work at your own site, conventional training venue or even in major TV companies’ own production studios, with real camera teams, lights etc. Powerful stuff. Contact info@nts-group.com

  9. Dealing with Press
I am Staff Training Officer of a Charity. We are holding Media Training – Getting the Message Across, with Directors and Senior Managers using Guide Dogs for the Blind. They use trainers plus two journalists and come into your organisation to deliver it.They are quite reasonably priced considering that 4 trainers are involved in total. Our training takes place next week – will be able to give feedback then.

  10. Look Locally
As an ex-police officer and training manager with the police, my suggestion would be to contact their press office and find out who they use, It will be different in each Region but believe me the training is good (as it needs to be)

You seem to have plenty of advice already.
