Does anyone know of good examples of job descriptions which I could have please?

We have had a query from one of our clients who is looking for good examples of job descriptions. The descriptions should include key result areas which could then be measured through a performance management system.

  1. Examples of job descriptions
    Hi Tina
The first port of call for this information should be the HR dept. If this info. is not available, consult with the appropriate training department. The training objectives of any course would indicate Performance, Conditions and Standards during training. As the output of the training is a demonstrable measurement of skill/knowledge/attitude, this could be used as the basis of a job spec.

I should add: generic job specs. are very dangerous beasts. If a package is applied to a position, careful consideration is required in order to ensure that the candidate profile fits the job spec.

If you want a real time exercise – check out some recruitment agencies (including your client) and read a job spec. Then contact the agency and ask for details regarding the position. You will then fully understand your clients’ needs!

  2. NVQ outlines can provide a starting-point for job descriptions
Tina, if you have a brief as to the types of job the descriptions should relate to, then NVQ outlines can provide a good starting-point.

The individual elements of the job description can then be further adapted to provide a detailed and measurable framework.

    Good luck
