A report published by Sports Correspondent Harry Peart, outlined that Senior Officials of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) stated that they over-estimated the amount of visitors that the official Olympic web-site would receive during the games.
The IOC originally estimated that 35 million people would visit the web-site during the games and in fact by the last day the estimate was around 15 million.
From these findings, the IOC felt that the internet had still a long way to go in comparison with television and that there is too much internet hype about.
Too much emphasis had been placed on the internet and it appeared as thought the world revolvef around the internet. This however does not appear to be the case with television still able to maintain 99.5% of the audience.
