The eLearning Network (eLN) is set to hold an event investigating how wikis, blogs, forums and other technologes impact on informal learning.
‘Informal Learning – Learning Despite the Training Department’ will be launched by Karen Ver, e-learning business manager from the CIPD, with speakers from the BBC, Skillsoft, ING and others. Case studies and presentations will look at Learning 2.0, social networking, wikis, forums, instant messaging, blogs, email, search engines, collaborative workspaces and online communities.
Previewing the event, Phil Green, eLN chairman said: “This promises to be an important and exciting day for anyone with an interest in eLearning. Karen Ver will help us think through, how do we learn what we know? How did we learn to learn? At work, how much of what we learn is mediated by a training and development department, and how much of how we learn new tasks and processes, develop relationships and adopt company culture etc. is just picked up as we go along?"
The event takes place on 25 May at The Society of Chemical Industry, in Belgrave Square, London.
