The Learning and Skills Council London Central has been offering employers who have yet to experience it the chance to try out some e-learning options.
Two rooms at the offices of media company Bloomberg were kitted out with 60 PC's to give interested employers a chance to try out various forms of computer-based learning, including the Investors in People software Laurel Online, and learndirect for business. The event was also an opportunity to showcase some sector-specific learning materials for the service sector, a particular priority for the LSC London Central.
Maggie Roy, Workforce Development Manager at The Learning and Skills Council London Central told TrainingZONE the event had provided an opportunity to demonstrate that e-learning isn't just for IT training, and can involve other forms of delivery as well as the internet. She commented that many people weren't aware that learndirect offered business-related courses, and that the event was a chance to showcase some of these, with a focus on 'bite-size' courses and induction programmes.
The event also offered a chance to demonstrate the Laurel Online software programme and website, designed for organisations working towards the Investors in People standard. Originally developed for Business Link Kent, and now over two years old, The Laurel Online programme has been bought by the Department for Education and Skills with a view to rolling it out across the country. LSC London Central is planning a pilot with interested organisations.
