Leadership is what you do - not what you say. So says Clive Mather, an advocate of leadership and corporate social responsibility issues, who has held many public appointments in the UK including commissioner for the Equal Opportunities Commission and chairman of the UK Government/Industry CSR Academy.
The former president & CEO of Shell Canada, Mather’s career at Shell has spanned 35 years and encompassed all of its major businesses, including assignments in Brunei, Gabon, South Africa, the Netherlands and the UK. He was appointed president & CEO of Shell Canada in August 2004, a position he held until retiring in June 2007.
Prior to this position, Mather was chairman of Shell UK and head of global learning in Shell International. He also held numerous positions at the senior management level, with group responsibility for information technology, leadership development, contract and procurement, ebusiness, and international affairs.
