An enthusiasic vote of support for technology-based training comes from a consortium of major companies and the University of Wolverhampton.

Initially, the University, Microsoft and ICL came together to work towards creating a centre of excellence for CBT. The Learning Lab was launched as a result in November last year, and aims to become 'a European centre of excellence to develop, evaluate and showcase technologies for learning within education and training'.

The Learning Lab aims provide advice and guidance to any organisation wishing to use ICT in the education and training sectors, and has been funded by a number of major IT, telecommunication, publishing, training and service companies.

For an organisation working to improve technology-based training, the Learning Lab website is sadly lacking in vital information about the organisation itself, although it does contain some interesting comment about the future of technology-based training.
