Editor's note
=============
Last week, nearly 200 training professionals were treated to
a showcase of top speakers, presentations and seminars. Duncan
Goodhew was there to explain his techniques for balancing work
and home life; Michael Breen had people thinking seriously about
whether training was really the answer; Oddball Training had some
top tips for developing your own learning skills; and there was a
stimulating discussion about the problems and issues of
developing e-learning in the workplace. The H.O.T. conference
proved a resounding success, and highlighted six key issues
affecting training today: That the role of the trainer has
changed fundamentally; that organisations are complex, not
complicated; that training should not be regarded as a panacea;
that diversity of interventions is key; that e-learning does
offer a realistic new approach and that national training policy
is bypassing most people.
To find out more about the key issues arising from the H.O.T.
conference, see
