default-16x9

A new CEDEFOP publication presents the System of Vocational Education and Training in Sweden

CEDEFOP, the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training, has just published Vocational education and training in Sweden. This is one of a series of monographs on the systems of all EU Member States, as well as Norway and Iceland.

Vocational education and training in Sweden offers teachers, trainers, policy makers, social partners, and anyone interested in vocational training a concise and comprehensive overview of the Swedish system.

Prepared by Kenneth Abrahamsson of the Swedish Council for Work Life Research and the Swedish EU Programme Office, this publication presents the political, economic and social context of the vocational training system in Sweden; examines the regulatory and financial framework; describes the main characteristics of the Swedish education and training system; and discusses quality issues, such as the training of teachers and trainers, quality assurance and vocational guidance practices.

The document concludes with a discussion of trends and perspectives for the implementation of training policy in Sweden, the challenges for vocational training in providing lifelong learning, and the new intercultural context of training.
