Tiny Computers have donated £250,000 of softward to boost learning opportunities for people living in socially disadvantaged areas.

The government has previously announced an investment of £10 million in the Wired-up Communities programme targetting Manchester, Suffolk and Blackburn designed to help people living in disadvantaged areas to overcome the 'digital divide'. The initiative links users to a local community website, the Internet and Government services with the aim of ensuring they have ready access to on-line information on job, health and education services.
A further £5 million has been made available to the e-Learning Foundation intended to provide young people with access to their own computing and ICT facilities.

The donation from Tiny Computers includes licences for 9,000 packages of GCSE revision materials, entertainment, general knowledge and graphics design packages. These will be distributed to families within the targetted areas to promote learning opportunities.
