London organisations invited to bid for training funds

default-16x9

Organisations in Central London interested in helping to boost education and skills are being invited to bid for part of a £3.8m fund from the Government's Local Intervention and Development Fund.

The fund, which aims to help local economic development through reaching groups of people not normally involved in formal learning or who find it difficult to access training for work, aims to support organisations such as learning providers, LEA's, voluntary or community groups, organisations led by ethnic-minority groups by providing grants of £50,000 or more.

Interested organisations must register their interest with the local Learning and Skills Council, who will then shortlist organisations to formally tender for the funds.

The Learning and Skills Council London Central has defined a number of projects which fit the bidding criteria. These
include:

  • Increasing the number of young people to take part in the London Central Modern Apprenticeship programme.
  • Helping Further Education colleges in Central London identify where skills shortages exist and the best way of addressing these.
  • Increasing the use of e-learning to promote education among young people and adults in Central London.
  • For more information on how to apply, e-mail londoncentralinfo@lsc.gov.uk or telephone 0845 019 4144.
