In the Budget Review on 9 November 1999, Gordon Brown announced a nationwide roll-out for the extension of the New Deal programme to those aged over-25. This effectively means that New Deal is now available to all those seeking work throughout the country of whatever age.
The New Deal website says;
"New Deal will be available for people aged 25 and over who have been claiming Jobseekers Allowance for at least two years. The Government is putting more than £350 million into this programme to get unemployed people into work and off benefits. If you have a disability, New Deal offers you the same opportunities as any other jobseeker, while making sure you get all the extra help you need.
If you are ready for work, New Deal will help you find a job. If you need more training, New Deal will help you find the best course for you and make sure you carry on getting the benefits you're entitled to. By working in partnership with local employers and training providers, we can make sure the training you get makes you more employable, by giving you the skills employers want. The step by step guide to New Deal for 25 plus sets out your path through New Deal, from joining to finding a permanent job."
