September’s theme on TrainingZONE: IT training

default-16x9

The IT training market has suffered a battering over the last year or so, being particularly affected by the withdrawal of the Individual Learning Account scheme. Technology remains key to the success of the majority of businesses in the UK, however, and demand for IT training will not disappear. During September, we'll be turning our attentions to some of the key issues in this field, in particular:

  • Training the IT trainer
  • E-learning approaches to IT training
  • Keeping up with new software developments
  • Organising an IT Training Needs Analysis
  • Tracking IT skills
  • Future prospects for the IT training market
  • Latest features added

  • How does the government support IT trainers and those with IT skills needs? We put some questions to Maggie Roy, a Workforce Development Manager at the Learning and Skills Council London Central, to find out more about the work they are doing in these areas.

  • Does certification guarantee performance competency? Susan Schwartz, principal consultant of The River Birch Group asks how important certification really is for technical staff.

  • The impact of e-learning on IT training - Richard Standen, Director, Connected Learning Limited gives his view on the impact e-learning is having on the delivery of IT training.

  • IT security and usage tips - courtesy of sister site AccountingWEB, we've uncovered some useful guides on IT security and usage tips as part of our month's focus on IT Training.

  • Colin Steed, the Institute of IT Training's Chief Executive looks at the skillsets required by today's IT Trainer, and in particular, their ability to transfer their skills to others.

    Editorial Guidelines

Overall content: Our editorial policy is not to use material directly promoting an organisation's goods and services. Instead, we publish original contributed features containing specific viewpoints on training-related subjects, advice guides and opinion pieces commenting on customer experiences or experiences of the training market itself.

    Length of piece: 300-1000 words

Format: People tend to scan read on the internet - it is a habit we are all developing in response to the massive amount of information available. So it's good to alert readers quickly to what you are going to put before them, by using headings through a long piece, and splitting the text into relatively short paragraphs.

Inclusion of links: We will include a link to contributors' nominated sites and/or e-mail contact address, so that members can access further information about the author if they wish to do so.
