Immediate Release
22nd November 2000
The 'Instructional Design' seminar tracks at the European E-Learning Expo & Conferences in Paris and Amsterdam are to be chaired by Tim Neill, managing director of Sussex-based e-learning developers Tim Neill Associates. His keynote presentation is titled 'Passengers don't learn!'
This prestigious, dual language conference will see leading pioneers of E-Learning debate with users and practitioners. The conference includes Plenary Keynote speeches and structured moderated seminar tracks, with real Case Studies in an interactive and multi-media format that will deliver real answers to the questions facing the developers and users of E-Learning solutions. Organised by ITE Group, the first two events are being held at the Palais de Congres in Paris (February 22 & 23) and at the Rai Center, Amsterdam (June 28-29). Events in Hong Kong, Toronto and Sydney are planned for later in 2001.
Tim Neill will present a practical approach to creating training programs which really do engage learners - by giving them control rather than allowing them to remain 'passengers' - to achieve maximum learning and skills acquisition. Techniques to be demonstrated live are drawn from 12 years' development experience and include . . .
- structuring content to encourage the learner to 'dig for gems'
- inviting learners to 'take the wheel' and try tasks for themselves
- providing opportunities to alter controls/settings and to discover outcomes
- building solutions interactively with a 'Lego set' and receiving feedback
- interactive interviews
