MS Office training for trainers

We are looking to bring our MS Office training in-house. We have full time TAP Delivery Skills professionals in-house that we would like to upskill to deliver MS Office courses. What training and/or qualifications do you recommend for our trainers?
Also has anyone else undertaken the same exercise and has any pointers?

  1. Qualifications?
    I ran software apps training course for 17 years, many of those in respect of Microsoft apps. Among my clients are some blue chip heavyweights in both South Africa and the UK. I don’t have a single accreditation. What I had was strong training skills and IT proficiency.

    I think there is a danger in getting hung up on pieces of paper, which tell you precious little about a person’s ability to engage learners and to develop and deliver meaningful learning experiences.

    Without fail when I have been for an interview for a software training contract (or even for a permanent role as the in-house Microsoft trainer) I have been asked to do a ‘test teach’ and to produce examples of some of my course designs. It has been this that has got me the job.

    I’d suggest the same approach, since some of the worst sessions I have attended as a learner have been delivered by accredited trainers… although I hasten to add that I have seen some pretty good accredited trainers, too!
