I am looking for suggested names of reputatble academics who I could approach to speak at an internal HR Masterclass on Career Planning and Career Counselling which is being held in July.
The purpose of the day is to get input from a range of speakers on the topic of Career planning / counselling. The intention os to have an academic speaking from a theoretical view point, follwed by career coaching in practice. I already have speakers from a blue chip organsiation and independant career coach. The audience consists of mainly senior HR colleagues from across the HBOS group.

Career Planning/Development Speakers

Try one of the Outplacement organisations. Penna and Right Coutts all have vast experience and I have used both organisations to support in-house Career Workshops
Try Go Mad
You could have a chat with Andy Gilbert @ GoMad.

A US resource
Caroline, if you have a budget to bring someone in to your organisation from the US, Richard Leider is terrific. He’s the author of “Repacking Your Bags” and “Whistle While You Work”, both published by Berrett-Koehler.
Academic Speaker
I would recommend Tony Watts-Professor of Careers Guidance at the University of Derby (the first in the country I think) and a founding member of CRAC in Cambridge. He has an excellent pedigree in terms of developing careers guidance theories and has had a massive influence on career practitioners. If he is unavailable I would recommend my colleague Paul Redmond here in Liverpool who has led a degree in Professional Development for staff from Jaguar and other local companies and is a much-in -demand conference speaker. There are others I can recommend, but these would be my top two. If you want their contact details email me at gauntp@hope.ac.uk
A different tack?
I would recommend a guy called Jim Cannon. He NOT an academic but is an ex hr director and was until recently a partner in an out-placement consultancy. Jim also frequently acts on consultancy project for CIPD. His practical experience and common sense approach has always gone down extremely well with both HR and non HR groups. I have contact details if you are interested.
