I'm stuck in a rut and need some help! I have been an IT trainer for 8 years now, training mostly MS Office, project management and similar apps, either as part of projects or individual courses. I have done a lot of course development and team leading and enjoyed doing both.
But I feel in need of a change to move out of my comfort zone, and am unsure of what opportunties and career paths might be availble to me. I guess what I'm asking for is to be hit with as many ideas as possible - brainstorm me if you like!

This isn’t advice as such but a sort of coach-fest…(in no particular order)
You say you “feel in need of a change”…why do you feel the need?
~What particularly do you want to change about your career?
~What will be better about that?
~What drawbacks can you see to the change?
~What hurdles will you have to overcome? Practically? Emotionally? In terms of others?
~How will you know if or when you have been successful?
~How long have you felt the need to change?
~What prompted these thoughts?
~Is it that you want to stop what you are doing now or is it that there is somethng that you want to start doing?
~Is anyone else affected by your decision? If so how will it impact them? How do they feel about that? How supportive will they be? for how long?
~Are you employed or self employed? Is it this mechanism that you want to change? Will you have to change this mechanism to acieve your goal? What effect will that have?
I hope this list of questions helps…..even if it aims to PROVOKE answers rather than PROVIDE them

you could try…
that tried and tested one of asking yourself what you would like to do if money was no object.
Then set some pragmatic goals to achieve it/them.
If you want to stay in training, why not work abroad?
The possibilities are endless with a little bit of imagination.
Paying the mortgage is another story… but then the premise was having no money issues.
