does anyone have any information on the "3 Greeks" influencing model...it is based on (I think) logos, ethos and emos.....I came across it last year and it has been bugging me that I can't remember any of the detail...or even if I've got the bit above right!

Ethos pathos logos
Its a long while since I used it too but its definately
Ethos
Pathos
Logos
and its the order that is important
I believe its Pathos Ethos Logos but what I do know is that Logos is definately last .
The lessons them olde greeks were trying to get across is that if you want to influence people then you absolutely do not start ( as most people do even today !!) with Logos ie start with your logic , your rationale, your agenda. while it may all make great sense to you ( of course it does its your own logic!!) it mnay make no sense to the other person
You have to start with Ethos and Pathos
Ethos
You have to be ethical and have the right kind of intentions , trustworthy etc
Pathos you have to understand where the other person is etc All prior to laying your own logic and rationale on them
It sits alongside
Intellect Emotion and Will in terms of models I think
and fits in with Covey stuff around leadership in terms of his suggested principles and their levels.
1) Personal -Trustworthyness
2) Interpersonal – Trust
3) Managerial – Empowerment
4) Organisational- Alignment
Hope that helps , its a bit ofa brain dump and it may not be 100% but hoipefully its enough to trigger off someone else who can add to it and remind us both where the “real ” material is
Google
A quick google search lead me to literally hundreds of references on these three types – here’s a straightforward link from one of the many found.

Hope that helps.
Thanks
Folks,
Thank you both for your assistance
