At the moment I run courses which are designed for adults, but I have had a request for a 15 year old to attend.
Whereas the content is suitable for all, apart from the differences in the way adults/children learn, are there any legalities associated with this?
I used to work for a charity where I was carrying out 'anti-bullying' workshops in schools, but as I was employed at the time I was CRB checked and had been given the proper training.
But as a self-employed entity, where do I stand?
Hope you can provide some feedback as this is not something I have come across before.

I think it’s a no
Hi Angie
I think the answer is no, although if they are with a parent or guardian it would be ok I think.
More info here but I would tend to leave well alone…

I think it’s a yes !
Hi Angie
I train young epople all the time – you definitely need a CRB – if alone with the YP ?
But I think there is more to it than that – especially if they are the only young person in a group of adults
happy to disucss further jane@croa.org.uk
Yes and No
I meant "I think it’s a no"
as in…
no don’t do it as you need a CRB…
Permission
CRB aside, if the child is still attending school and the course you are offering is over a period of time (such as an evening class) they may need their head teacher’s permission to attend. There may also be a problem if your course is public funded in getting funding for them.
Other Adults
Hi Angie,
You will need a CRB check (how many years ago did you have your last one as employee?).
The other issue to consider is whether any situations might arise when the other adults are left on their own with the 15 year old and where you would stand with this.
Also, the 15-year old might not mind attending a course with adults, but the adults might. I know this is not a legal issue, but worth considering.
Good luck!
