Fundraiser trainer interview preperation

default-16x9

I have an interview for a trainer position in the charity fundraising industry. There will be a 45 minute interview that includes a 15 minute presentation on an aspect of interpersonal communication of my choosing. I have a background in adult education as a tutor and course writer; also, I have experience of working as a fundraiser so I'm confident I can pull this off but I would like some advise from the wise.

What topics for the presentation would be welcomed and what is to be avoided?

What should the presentation look like? I'm tempted to keep it simple and avoid too much technology as I fear a malfunction would ruin everything.

What tricky interview questions should I know the answers to?

What questions would you expect a candidate to ask?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

  1. Interview Tool

    Hi Trumpet

As the job is fundraising related I would do my presentation on some type of Sales / Persuasion techniques…how to build Rapport maybe? Just Google or YouTube it and there is no shortage of free advice.

This Interview Question Tool might be useful…it gives a whole range of questions and some ideas for what your interviewer will be expecting you to say!

Good luck…fingers crossed and do come back to tell us your good news!

  2. Simple is best

If you want to use technology for your presentation, double check with the employer what they will have available or what you would need to take. E.g. can you just take a memory stick or would you need to take your laptop?

As a backup, also take a printed version – on an interview that I was on, the technology went haywire but I had a paper version and didn’t panic and I think that went part way to me getting the job.

Hope that helps and good luck!

    Sue
