I am exploring CPD activities that I can undertake that require a minimal cost. Can anyone recommend any essential texts they have read that has influenced their work in L&D or been essential to their career progression? Can anyone also suggest activities I can undertake to develop my skills and knowledge that require little to no cost to undertake.

For ways in which to use technology in the training room. Although TEFL biased I have found lots of great ideas, especially Jing by subscribing to this newsletter.
Oh and message boards like Training Zone, LinkedIn groups and Training Journal…
Websites
The podcasts on here are useful for hearing about new research etc.
I also go on the websites such as mindgym as they quite often have a number of whitepapers and interesting webinars introducing subjects and research.
I have learnt about several new trends this way and then use google to learn more.
CIPD website is also a must.
