Behaviour breeds behaviour

Training sessions really get interesting when we start to go ‘off piste’ and discuss something that wasn’t strictly part of the workshop but well worth the debate. One such time was the other day, when we started discussing behaviour. What behaviour we need to display as a manager, and what we expected from our teams.

It was during this discussion that one manager very honestly said that he had a ‘problem person’. Someone who was always late, had longer lunches and cigarette breaks far too often. He had spoken to this person time and time again, and was now at the stage where he didn’t know what to do…and then came the killer statement. “Just because I do that, he thinks he can too. But…I’m the boss!!”

 It doesn’t take long for behaviour to breed behaviour.  Role model the way and your team will follow.
