Strong leaders hold the key to realising the potential opportunities and benefits from the Apprenticeship Levy to the UK’s housing sector and its workforce.
The Levy brings significant opportunities for the housing sector to embrace workforce development and harness and develop talent in the workplace, and if housing sector leaders are supported in understanding the potential benefits, will have positive results.
We are committed to supporting executives to develop their leadership skills and also their understanding of the Apprenticeship Levy, and have teamed-up with training and development specialists Spaghetti Junction, on a new initiative in a bid to unravel the details of the Levy, support housing sector executives and leadership teams to realise the benefits, as well as enhance knowledge, skills and overall wellbeing.
The joint initiative centres around a series of events, and the first in London will be a forum at which managers working in the housing sector can find out more about the Levy, the ways in which it can be used, alongside the importance of good leadership in realising the benefits that apprentices of all ages can bring.
The complimentary breakfast event ‘Fit to Lead the Levy’ is in London on Tuesday 28th November 2017, and is specifically for managers in the housing sector.
At the event, Dr Howard G. Awbery will share the findings from his research into combatting Corporate Burnout, and stimulate thinking and awareness around the subject, Mary Sisson, Director at Awbery, will highlight the role of wellbeing in the workplace, and Sarah Bentley, CEO of Spaghetti Junction, will explain the Apprenticeship Levy.
Mary will also take delegates through a short impact session on Mind, Body and Leadership, that will help managers in the housing sector to develop the key areas of wellbeing and resilience, so they can be fully fit to lead themselves and their teams as the Apprenticeship journey develops in their organisation.
Awbery recently completed a five-year study of the research and reports into the evolution of leadership and wellbeing, confirming the growing problem of corporate burnout amongst senior executives, that now affects around 20 percent of leaders.
Collectively, the findings underpin our belief that leadership wellbeing at work, in physical, emotional and personal development capacities, has a huge impact on individual performance and a profound influence on the culture they create.
Awbery has developed its Fit to Lead programme to equip business leaders with the knowledge and skills to ensure their wellbeing at work, by addressing all the vital components of how leaders in the sector can ensure their minds and bodies remain in the very best of health in the face of pressure and long working hours, and the event will explain how housing sector managers can utilise these.
