Achieve audience rapport in 60 seconds

default-16x9

I'm facilitating a large event for 60 managers and I'm looking for fun ideas on how I can build instant rapport and have them laughing within 60 secs of taking to the stage. I don't want them to have to get up and move around. Any new/original ideas on how I can do this would be appreciated.

Many thanks!

  1. Tips for quick rapport
    Hi,

Having seen Tony Robbins capture the attention of 5000 in only a few moments, I thought I might share his method – Pre-Frame.

Rather than just go on stage and start by introducing yourself and the topic, you start with a couple of statements that will get every member of the audience nodding. For example, ‘some of you have been with the company for many years and have already seen several changes, others of you have joined in more recent times and yet others are completely new to the organisation’.

It doesn’t have to be complicated, just make sure you say something that would cover every member of the audience.

The next step, once you have introduced yourself, is to use 4Mat (see Tad James’ and David Shephard’s book ‘Presenting Magically’ for more details of ‘4mat’ ISBN189983652-7). A method of itroducing your subject which should engage each of the 4 learning styles. Tell them – WHAT you will cover, WHY and HOW and WHAT IF – the consequences of them listening and learning.

    Hope that helps.
