Any views on culture and strategy?

default-16x9

I am about to start a research project for my Diploma in T&D, titled " An analysis of the impact of organisational culture on HR and L&D activities and their role as a strategic business partner".

I have plenty of academic material but am interested in the views of other practitioners, particulalry those of you that work in a range of organisations, and operate within different corporate cultures.

Any views, observations or even recommended reading would be gratefully received!

Thanks

Nicky

    Hi Nicky
    another big one…

Your project title makes an assumption that HR/ L&D are a strategic business partner.. is this true? what success factors demonstrate this?

Culture is key in forming the nature of relationships, exp when there is no line responsibility – so for a dept to be a strategic partner the culture must allow and support this – or quite simply they will not be a partner!

The culture is the thing that makes reality. So many organisations have roles called “business partner” but clearly by their function and responsibilities they are not!

Perhaps it is worth reading around matrix organisations and projects as this is closest to business partnering that a traditional customer/ service model.

Hope this provides some ideas for you, good luck with the assignment
