  1. Iam producing a DVD tackling gender and ethnic stereotyping
    The GERI Project

Gender and ethnic stereotyping restricts the careers of women and men of all ages, despite legislation and the efforts of careers guidance services, educators, trainers and many employers. Embedded in many industrial sectors, and in social and family expectations and attitudes, it bears hardest on women and on certain ethnic groups

The GERI project, set within the Connexions / Careers Guidance Sector, has been supported by the EQUAL Programme, launched 15th November 01 by the EC, to tackle gender & ethnic stereotyping. The purpose of the EQUAL Programme is to test innovative solutions to disadvantage throughout UK and European labour markets.

    The GERI project will:

    · Conduct research into the causes of gender & ethnic stereotyping,

    · Design & deliver standardised equal opportunities information, training & guidance materials for use by Connexions & Careers staff and local partners. Research and local case experience will be applied to the design and development of practical and compelling learning resources, to promote Gender & Ethnic Equality. These resources will incorporate role models and will be delivered on DVD and Online, using interactive video and animation.
