As a qualified Accountant, I spent many years working in industry in finance roles which involved supporting people across the business in areas such as budget creation and management, cash flow maximisation, profit analysis and improving balance sheets amongst other things. Having decided that wasn’t what I wanted to do for ever, I took the plunge in 2003 to set up FST&C (Finance Support, Training and Consultancy – we do what it says on the tin). Since then, I’ve been fortunate that I’ve never had to look back. I’ve been lucky to work with a huge variety of businesses and non-profit making organisations designing and delivering mainly tailored finance-related training courses aimed at people who work in non-financial roles within the business. I’ve been delighted by the financial improvements that people have made within their own areas as a result of the training that we do.
Our area of expertise is in training people working in non-financial roles in whatever aspects of finance are relevant to them. Many people in all organisations are given budget responsibility but don’t know best practice in how to create or manage one. Millions of people are spending their organisations money but don’t know the best ways to go about it to result in a positive impact on profit and cash flow. Everyday decisions that people take have an impact on the bottom line but they might not know how to make it a good one. These are the kind of things that we help people to understand and give them practical techniques to apply within their own roles.
