Best practice on IDn

default-16x9

I'm currently working on my IDN module of the CTP and would like to know everyones thoughts on best practice for IDN.
What is best practice for IDN?
What companies in their consideration conduct best practice IDN?

  1. What do you mean by IDN?

IDN is not a common acronym so you might want to clarify what you mean. I guess you don’t mean Integrated Delivery Network as that is not commonly covered on the CTP!
If you are refering to Needs Analysis or Training Needs Analysis (TNA) then I think you need to narrow your question down (or buy a book). If IDN is Identification of Needs, there is plenty of info already on this site (for example see https://www.trainingzone.co.uk/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=166139) but do search under TNA or needs rather than IDN.
Best practice in needs analysis comes in many forms according to the scope (or size of your target population), the focus (one task, one job, one issues – such as management), resources (time, money, people, expertise) and what is driving the agenda (operational disaster, a new system, a disgruntled stakeholder, internal desire to update and improve, etc.).
We use a range of methods in varying combinations according to circumstances – so the challenge is about getting ‘best fit’ rather than following an often illusory ‘best practice’.
I’m not sure that helps much, but if you clarify your thoughts a bit (and perhaps speculate some ideas of your own to get some reactions), then maybe others will come in get a debate going.
