Can anyone help in finding a good venue for outdoor development training ?

default-16x9

I am looking for a training venue with the following characteristics :
50 miles radius of London
Access to a variety of open space, e.g. trees, open space,
Prefer private ground if possible
Access to outdoor activities (water, climbing) nice to have but not essential
need single/twin accommodation with en suite
Group size maximum 20
Need good wholesome food.
Basic accommodation (not 3 star) is fine.

  1. How about Rough Terrain?
We have very successfully used the following outward bound group:
    Rough Terrain
    18b Bell Street
    Henley-on-Thames
    Oxon, RG9 2BG
    Contact: Bob Crockett
    T: 01491 413416
    F: 01491 642161

    Very professional and good fun!

  2. Opportunity to carry out REAL projects on a farm?
The Woodlands Farm Trust is based on the outskirts of London on the Greenwich/Welling border. It is currently a derelict farm that needs a great deal of work done to get it brought back into organic production and as a centre for environmental education.
It is 89 acres in total; so plenty of space! We also have at present two shire horses.
Accomodation would have to be in local hotels with a short drive to the farm?
I am a part-time voluntary Director of the Trust; and we are keen to develop the site for Outdoot Management Development. You can contact me on 020-8305-2196 or 55 Mayhill Road London SE7 7JG

  3. Outdoor Training Venue
It may not quite be 50 miles (maybe 60) as it is in Cirencester (Gloucs), but a good place used and recommended by one of my major clients is ‘Friday Island’ which is a purpose-made aite for outdoor training activities.

They will hire you the facility or co-ordinate the whole event for you, including food and prizes etc. They have water activities, physical and mental challenges, shooting galleries, ducking stools and hot tubs! I am assured its the business.

Contact Peter Burton on 01285 770226 or e-mail: [email protected]

    Hope this helps

  4. outdoor venue in Essex
you could try Gilwell Scout Park in Chingford, Essex – they have a purpose built training centre and the outdoor facilities.

  5. A bit of lateral thinking….
What about using a fleet of boats out of the Hamble river? – eat, sleep and sail. You very rarely get sea-sick in the flat waters of the Solent. It’s worked fantastically for us!

With qualified skippers on board you can even take part in Regattas and races – great for team building.

  11. Outdoor Development Training
You must, you must, you MUST try The Holt at Warlingham, Surrey. Based in a Bluebell wood, with good hearty food, the option to camp out in a log cabin and all activities based on “Crystal Maze” style followed by de-briefing sessions. Economically priced with people who are not only friendly but know what they are doing, speak to Robert Alp on 01883 627376 or visit their web site at http://www.theholt.co.uk Other sites available around the UK and more opening soon.

I have no vested interest in this organisation (only a customer) but you can try one of their open days for free! Great fun with a point!
