Can anyone help with Coaching in the Further Education field ?

default-16x9

Any ideas how I can help coach some-one with the following :-

Returning to Further Education after some years has proven difficult for this person. She is able only to remember individual facts and does not cope well with the pressure of writing essays and taking exams.

Any ideas ? Are there any good publications out there that would help ?

  1. Return to study
I am probably preaching to the converted, but with a returner it is vital to ensure understanding. If application is not understood: and that is indicated by this lady’s factual retention of individual portions only, then perhaps some questioning and then re-delivery to ensure comprhension is required. Mind maps and other techniques will only help once the knowledge is imparted and action is taken. The pressure of exams and assignments could be modifed by dealing with essay questions in mock format to improve techniques as part of the coaching.

I would also look at her motives in studying and her time allocated as we find with female returners the emphasis on home life responsibilities can be a big inhibitor and this needs to be addressed to make progress.

I hope this is helpful and if we can offer any further advise please let us know.

  2. user groups
could I suggest that they set up a user group with other delegates through a server such as yahoo.

Ideas can be shared among students out of the classroom environment.

Best of all it costs nothing to implement.

  3. Can we discuss?
