In the world of HR and Training, career management doesn't always make it to the top of the priority list. After all, if an employee is already in work with your organisation, is the attitude toward their career development more often than not based on what he or she can do for your organisation rather than on their own career wish list?
The University of Industry (UfI) has recently launched a new web-site called Learndirect Futures. The site is a careers information service, offering advice on what kind of work best suits people, through diagnostic tools and over 700 on-line job profiles.
Also available is advice on creating CVs along with some feedback facilities and advice on interviews. The service is supported by a telephone helpline.
Openly promoting the service, Head of Learner Information at the UfI, Gareth Dent, said, "The learndirect futures package is a great tool for anyone wanting personal and professional advice about careers. Because it is an online service, anyone can use it - anytime and any place where they have internet access. But what really makes it unique is the telephone support from learndirect advisers. This is an on-line package that you can talk to."
