IT professionals are being advised to keep an eye on their insurance policies. According to mi2g, a risk management specialist, insurance providers have re-written their terms and conditions in order to unambiguously exclude cover for data and digital liabilities in the aftermath of September 11th.
Steve Reynolds, commercial insurance partner at law firm Hammond Suddards Edge states “WTC created massive data traffic losses for business interruption insures. A modern corporate runs the risk of trading without having effective business interruption or disaster cover in place”.
Mi2g believe that the current trends in the IT industry will mean a significant increase in business for specialist digital risk insurance companies.
