CIPD Management Report

default-16x9

Hi,

I am really struggling on my management report does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking about doing it on Absence Management with the impending fit notes coming in and whether using them and a more structured return to work plan would help us manage our long term absence. As a company we dont have much of a short term absence problem its about 3%, probably 2% of which is long term. Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone done a management report on absence and could give me some pointers on what types of things you looked at? I'm unsure how to structure it and confused on how you can do any primary research?

Thanks

Louise

  1. Ideas from work??

Hi Louise, have you had a chat with your colleagues about potential ideas?  Perhaps there is something which they can suggest to help you.  My report was about women in management since the industry I worked in at that time simply didn’t attract women and therefore, few women rose to senior management levels.  The organisation didn’t have a glass ceiling since women just didn’t join in the first place.  Rather than look at something which is not working well perhaps consider something found in other companies (or your competitors) which is lacking in your workplace but that chat just might get your brain buds onto the right track …  Good luck!

  2. Management Report

You should get in touch with your tutor. I have the privilege of having a look at a couple of management reports in preparation for my Masters Dissertation and the tutors have been very helpful and we also have a Module Study Guide to support us.

If you are a CIPD member, then you should have access to on-line journals or use the search function to see what is available there.

    Trust this helps?

  3. Management report

    Hi Louise

As you don’t really have an absence problem at work, will writing a management report about it really motivate you? And will it be implemented?

I’m in the process of doing my management report also, and it took me a long time to come up with a topic to write about.  Anyway, a challenge has now arose with our selection processes, and because I know that I can change the way its done, and it’ll have a beneficial impact, I feel really motivated to do the report knowing that I can change things for the better, and can add value.

If you need any help just email me at lisa.martin@leighspaints.com.  I’m not saying that I have many wise words but its always nice to bounce off people who are going through the same thing as you!!!

    Lisa
