Computer Based Training for Microsoft Office 97

default-16x9

Does anyone know of any really good training CDRoms for MS office 97. We have a number of staff who require both basic and intermediate training on Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint etc. They are not mobile and therefore cannot reach training centres. They also have either no or very basic skills in PC and therefore something which is interesting and also a good training aid is required. Resources are very short in terms of tutors and therefore a good self teach module is preferred.

If anyone has experience of good MS office training CDRoms I would love to hear from you.

Hi Lesley, have your people got on-line access? If so, have you tried LearnDirect who offer very well written and effective courses for all levels of MS Office. The added advantages are that they are free if the learner registers for ECDL – and the learner ends up with an internationally recognised qualification. The courses can be undertaken at work, at home or at any of the 1500 local LearnDirect centres. Further information can be found at:-

  2. CBT suppliers
From experience people like to evaluate content ranges from different vendors. If you would like to know about and evaluate the different products offered by companies like Infosource, Educational Multimedia, NETg, Element K and more than you can contact MMT who specialise as an independent content agregator.

They supplied Lloyds TSB with CD ROM content when I worked there.

  3. SVI
You could try a company called SVI. They are based in Basingstoke & supply a wide range of CBT’s for Microsoft and other products. They have products which can be used on all different platforms: Web, Intranet, Network, Standalone, CD Roms etc

    Their Web address is http://www.svitrain.com

I would recommend an on-site instructor led solution. Your users will need to be able interact with the teaching resource. CBT does not offer that. Your Users are very basic too, this will undoubtedly cause a tremendous slow down in their learning process. The return on investment through Instructor led training is instant.
